I’ve been investing in Headwaters Foundation for Justice since 1988 because I believe that Headwaters’ model of financial power-sharing is important. As someone who is committed to social and racial justice, and who inherited financial wealth, I first learned about Headwaters through the Funding Exchange and the North Star Fund when I lived in New York City. When I returned to Minneapolis, I was pleased to learn that Minneapolis had its own in Headwaters.
I am a sustaining donor because it enables Headwaters to count on me and know, through my ongoing commitment, how much money they will be able to donate to organizations. Headwaters has the expertise that I may not always have about who is doing effective social justice work in Minnesota. Being raised by social justice activists, I was taught early that by taking action I can help change things.
I know many of you, like me, take action in different ways. I hope you will join me in taking action by becoming a sustaining donor to Headwaters Foundation for Justice at an amount that is significant to you. We have had some major victories since I joined Headwaters in 1988 and I know that together, we can achieve more. –Marian
