Tuesday, January 15, 2019 - Headwaters Foundation for Justice announced that David Nicholson has made the decision to move out of his role as executive director—a role he has held for the last six years. The Foundation will continue to advance its mission-driven work under Nicholson’s leadership through summer 2019.
The announcement comes as the Foundation marks its 35th anniversary year. “I look at this transition for what it really is: the right time for both myself and Headwaters to grow into our next life cycles,” said Nicholson.
Nicholson started his Headwaters career in 2004 as director of programs. He accepted the executive director position in 2013 and has since led the Foundation to be an influential force in community-led grantmaking. “David has given his time and talent to the Headwaters mission for 15 years,” said Erica Mauter, board co-chair, “I hope everyone in the community can join us to thank and celebrate him this summer.”
A team of board members are leading an executive search and transition process and will share details as they are available. Please send transition-related questions and feedback to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
