Headwaters Foundation is proud to announce $50,000 in grants made through the second Giving Project cohort to five grantees who are organizing their communities to advance equity and justice:
Asian American Organizing Project
Centro De Trabajadores Unidos en la Lucha (CTUL)
Dream of Wild Health
Greater Minnesota Worker Center
InquilinXs UnidXs Por Justicia (United Renters for Justice)
Giving Project members came together across lines of race, class, and gender over the course of six months with the common goal of supporting community organizing led by people most affected by injustice and oppression. These 15 individuals raised over $57,000 from 200 people. Ten percent of what the cohort raised goes to Headwaters Foundation to support project expenses.
In the past 12 months, participants from Headwaters’ first two Giving Project cohorts have raised over $140,000 and made 12 grants to nine organizations and the Emergency Fund for Black Lives.
Information on the next round of the Giving Project Grant will be available in the fall of 2016. For more information about the Giving Project Grant, contact Allison Johnson.
