The 2021 Transformation Calendar

Art is a critical resource that fuels the heart of our movements for justiceIt informs, questions, sustains, pushes, names, documents, listens, welcomes, reflects, and heals. No one is a stranger to trouble, and artists have eternally been there to reassure us that we essentially have what we need to keep going. Transformation lives whenever and wherever we gather to organize, build power, and get free. Artists have been, are, and will always be an element of that gathering.

Headwaters invited 13 local artists to share their vision and voice in the inaugural 2021 Transformation Calendar. It was a project we designed to express our appreciation to HFJ donor community—and to show love to our community's creatives. We asked each artist to share art and thoughts that respond to the idea of TRANSFORMATION.

The result, curated by Leslie Barlow, was printed and mailed to donors in late 2020. This is the online companion piece for our whole community to spend time with. We hope you'll get to know and support the artists. Follow us on social media as we amplify each artist monthly.

This page will be updated throughout 2021. Please visit often, share with others, and imagine with us.
