In line with Headwaters’ mission, the Democracy in Action Fund Grant supports community organizing nonprofits that build and strengthen democratic systems. The Fund invests in organizations that advance community self-determination and hold institutions accountable to the people. Giving Project participants use Headwaters’ longstanding criteria to select grantees and award one-year, $10,000 general operating grants.

“This incredible cohort fundraised from more than 325 people,” said senior program officer Allison Johnson Heist. “That’s easily the biggest network of gifts a Giving Project has received, and it’s reflected in the biggest number of organizations ever funded through a single Giving Project. Headwaters congratulates the cohort, and is thankful for their leadership.”

If you are interested in joining the next Giving Project cohort, https://headwatersfoundation.org/get-involved/join-giving-project has details. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and priority will go to people who apply by Wednesday, October 31, 2018. Applicants will be notified in mid-December, and the first cohort meeting is set for early January 2019.
