Young Dance will create and offer dance classes to address social and learning goals of incarcerated youth at Hennepin County Home School. The classes will engage youth in movement practices that foster mindfulness, self-regulation and interpersonal relations. In the highly regulated, restricted setting of juvenile corrections system, optional dance classes provide a rare opportunity for: physical, social, emotional, and spiritial self-expression; non-traditional movement based approaches to self-regulation; and bodily autonomy. Dance classes will be provide a creative approach to some of the skills introducted in therapy.
