Leaders of Color Collective

Grantee Year:

Leaders of Color Collective coalesced during a self-organized two-day convening in Fargo/Moorhead in November 2017, after three months of 1-to-1 conversations between leaders in August, September, and October. This convening afforded fifteen leaders and organizers of color time to: introduce their stories, work and networks; surface common interests; and identify ways to sustain their work and secure investments benefitting their communities. Their initial convening invited them to reflect on their racialized experiences within the contexts and histories of the U.S., the Midwest, MN/ND, and Fargo/Moorhead, talk about the distinctions and commonalities between their experiences and perspectives, and think about which issues they could contend with collectively and what power they could leverage as leaders and communities working in solidarity.
