La Asamblea de Derechos Civiles

Grantee Year:

Founded in 2008, La Asamblea de Derechos Civiles (hereafter "Asamblea") is a statewide, faith-based organization which organizes immigrants from primarily Catholic Latino congregations to build power for changes in the immigration system and the underlying political and economic structures behind it. Their mission is to build leadership in the community and act in collective power to change the politics that affect the destiny of their community, taking the gospel call for justice into the public arena. Their organizational vision is for Emancipation which they define as "the transformation of individuals, society and the system for the transformation of immigrant people, a people in struggle." Their platform calls for a path to citizenship, workers rights, access to higher education, civic participation and media justice.
