Grantee Year:

Isuroon will organize a support and empowerment group to provide emotional and practical support to single mothers; to encourage them to find their voice and express their needs; to help them understand that they have skills and strength; and to lead them to using their skills. In Somalia, they call these meetings “the shade under the big tree” where women meet to address issues and seek support. Formation of this group is in response to requests from the community, specifically single mothers raising children with autism. The gatherings will include Somali role models and Somali experts, storytelling, group discussions and role play – to connect women, support them, and provide them with skills and tools to help them in raising children with autism.
