The mission of Dream of Wild Health (DWH) is to restore health and well-being in the Native community by recovering knowledge of and access to healthy Indigenous foods, medicines, and lifeways. Staff are fundamentally dedicated to the stewardship of and education about indigenous seeds.
DWH is home to one of the largest indigenous seed collections in the region. Parts of the collection are missing important information about a seed’s place of origin and do not have documented permission from their ancestors to be shared or sold. DWH plans to gather and record stories about the seeds and their keepers; to get permission for various uses of the seeds; and to share this cultural knowledge with the community. The project will help rebuild an indigenous and sovereign food system based on mutual benefit, respect for the earth, and abundance.
