Giving Project Grant Application
Giving Project Grants support organizations that are led by and for Black people, Indigenous people, and people of color (BIPOC) that use a community organizing approach to address root causes of injustice. Headwaters has been offering Giving Project grants since 2015.
Giving Project Grant: the next opportunity to apply will be in early 2022
Giving Project Grants provide $15,000 of general operating support to organizations that prioritize community organizing as the core strategy to engage and build power in their communities in order to change systems and advance equity and justice.
Minnesota-based organizations that are led by and serve Black people, Indigenous people, and people of color may apply in early 2022. Eligible organizations need to tell us about their organized constituency base, specific goals, and strategies. We ask applicants to tell us how they build power in their communities to push for systems change.
We recognize and value that there are different approaches to community organizing; and that organizing looks different in every community and in this particular moment. Mutual aid projects that mobilize people to meet survival needs and build shared understanding about the root causes of those unmet needs are encouraged to apply. New or emerging organizations are also encouraged to apply.
Participants of the 2022 Giving Project will raise all grant funds. The cross-class, multiracial cohort will meet lead both the fundraising and grantmaking process.
