Apply for a Fund of the Sacred Circle Grant
The Fund of the Sacred Circle (FSC) is Headwaters Foundation’s longest-standing fund. FSC grants invest in Native-led organizations in Minnesota that focus on community organizing; self-determination and sovereignty; and systems change.
Fund of the Sacred Circle Grants Apply November 10 through December 7, 2021
The Fund honors and acknowledges Indigenous-led organizations who nurture vibrant, thriving, just Indigenous communities now and for future generations. FSC grants invest in work that centers culture and tradition; Native leadership; connections to land and language; sovereignty and self-determination; and deep community organizing and engagement.
We’re increasing the grant amount and providing two years of funding. Grants will provide Native-led organizations with $40,000 of general operating support over two years ($20,000 per year for two years).
Areas of interest include but are not limited to: language and cultural revitalization; reclamation of traditional lifeways; protection of environment, waters, foodways, and land; sovereignty and treaty rights; civic participation; and narrative change.
Grant decisions will be made by a committee of experienced Native community members. We entrust our grantmaking volunteers to review proposals and make collective investment decisions using the Fund’s criteria.
