As a people-powered community foundation that invests in grassroots organizing across Minnesota, WE REMAIN STRONG…TOGETHER!
It’s time to reunite with fellow values-aligned donors and connect with the leaders of organizations on the front lines of social change.
While anger and confusion about our current political climate permeate our everyday lives, we must be intentional about carving our time for community care, art, and joy to build resistance.
Join us for an evening centering music, dance, poetry, and updates about the last year at Headwaters.
Every year the Headwaters development team hosts a dinner to acknowledge the important work of our grantee partners and to thank donors for their participation. This year our program will feature artists who will bring performances guided by themes of resilience and power building:
- Our very own Wakinyan LaPointe and his brother Thorne LaPoint will kick us off with an indigenous invocation and welcome song.
- Tearra Oso and her band will perform Bomba, a traditional Afro-Puerto Rican resistance piece that includes drumming, song, & dance.
- And Junauda Petrus, the newly appointed Minneapolis Poet Laureate, will share poetry including “Can We Please Give The Police Department to the Grandmothers?”
A multitude of food options will be available to accommodate all diets; children welcome. Vendors will be on site selling books and art.
