Angela is a mixed, first-generation Peruvian on occupied Dakota land. Her work is greatly influenced by her Andean and immigrant communities' values and histories.
She joins the Headwaters community with a background in youth work and immigrant justice organizing. Angela supports the creation of educational spaces grounded in radical hospitality and justice in order to engage community members in powerful truth-telling and grantmaking. She is rooted in her family's political and personal histories, both from the global south and from poor rural communities in the Midwest. Angela participates in creating spaces of belonging and accessibility for folks interested in shifting power, narrative, and money in their communities.
Beyond the Headwaters office, Angela is often outside - birdwatching, camping, or working with plants across her community garden plots and home garden. She also loves to cook... And share food!
