Melissa Rudnick is the Senior Program Officer at the Headwaters Foundation for Justice, and brings 14 years of experience organizing for racial, social and economic justice to the position. She is honored to join the team at Headwaters, and thrilled to be part of a foundation that prioritizes community organizing and systems change as a core strategy for engaging and empowering communities to get at the root causes of the most pressing injustices of our time. She is energized by and committed to Headwaters’ community-led grant making – a process that centers, trusts and nurtures community leadership. She most recently served as the Senior National Organizer at Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice where she helped to develop chapters across the country. Previously, she worked as Lead Organizer for one of Headwaters grantee partners, Jewish Community Action (JCA). In her eight years at JCA she led the organizing department; created a leadership development and organizing institute; and was part of various successful campaigns for progressive policy change in Minnesota. Melissa has also organized with the AFL-CIO Stamford Organizing Project, HOME Line, and Grassroots Solutions.
She is a proud alumni of COR, a multi-faith, multi-racial community organizing initiative of the American Muslim Civic Leadership Institute, Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice and the Poverty Initiative at Union Theological Seminary.
