Crystal (she/her/hers) is an enrolled citizen of the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas, an affiliate of the Prairie Band Potawatomi and Cherokee nations who identifies as Mexican. Born and raised in Topeka, Kansas, she brings a wealth of community and cultural organizing, grants management, and research experience to Headwaters. A Haskell Indian Nations University alum, she will receive her Masters of Public Health from the University of Minnesota in the spring of 2020.

Hired in October 2019, she is leading the development of Headwaters newest initiative to strengthen and grow the Foundation’s work with Native American communities. She co-facilitates the Giving Project and stewards Fund of the Sacred Circle. Her guiding star is healing intergenerational trauma among indigenous communities. She basks in her roles as auntie, grandmother and godmother.
